James Hoy

James Hoy was born about 1794 in Co. Louth, Ireland, and died 13 July 1862 in Easton, PA.

He arrived in New York from Liverpool on April 30, 1830.

He married Margaret Phelan from Kilkenny on April 20, 1834 in Newark NJ where they stayed for 11 years. Three of the children were born in Newark.

The family moved to Easton, PA in 1845 just as the first of the refugees from the Great Hunger began to arrive. The only surviving son was to marry a daughter of one such family.

Listed as a Laborer in the 1850 census.
Listed as a Laborer at furnace in the 1860 census.
Burial: St Joseph's Church, Easton, PA.
